"Bruce Boxleitner Goes Hollywood!"
Ah, fame! It can really change a young couple's life style! How do we know? Well, here's the best proof possible of how two up-and-coming stars went Hollywood very quickly. On the left we have Bruce Boxleitner and wife Kathy Holcomb as they looked attending the big ABC party in May 1977. On the right, almost one year to the day later, we have Bruce Boxleitner and wife Kathy Holcomb as they attended the ABC party in May 1978. And you have to look hard to check out that it's the exact same couple. What happened? How The West Was Won. The western turned Bruce into a TV sex symbol and Kathy has a good part on it as well. So now they've both changed hairstyles, and Kathy's showing a bit more cleavage, and Bruce is sporting Tinseltown's popular expensively casual Rodeo Drive leather look. Have they changed all that much in their private lives, too? Well, they're no longer struggling artists, but you'll note, if you look closely, that Bruce still has the same necktie! And they're still coming and going as a happily married couple. Let's hope they stay that way.
Looking for a Joe College Type? Jack the Ripper? Marlon Brando Too?! Well, Look No Furhter, 'Cause Ex-Bring 'Em Back Alive Star, Bruce Boxleitner, Is All Those -- And Many, Many More!
"He has a problem," says Bruce Boxleitner's agent Jay Bernstein. "He
was excellent in mini-series liek How the West Was Won, East of Eden, and
The Last Convertible, but audiences kept seeing a different Bruce every
time. While those roles might have been good, he wasn't playing heroes.
I think Bruce will bring the good guy back in style."
Bruce is well on his way to being a hero now that he's played the campy 1930s hunter Frank Buck. But if you think Bruce was believable in this role, just check out a few of his old ones - and his personal life! |
He always watnte to do Robert Redford parts and in The Baltimore Bullet, as pool hustler Billie Joe Robinson, Bruce got his chance to Sting a few folks himself. Would you take candy from this man? |
How the West Was Won was a tv movie and miniseries that featured Bruce back in the old west. Can't you just feel the dust in his clothes? Grub-by! |
Though Fly Away Home featured Bruce as a photo-journalist, Boxleitner fans saw it as an opportunity for Bruce to flash his Joe College look. To that's what was under all that stubble! |
[more of that tie!]
He's changed characters with each guest spot, series and movie he's ever done -- his video computer character in Tron and slick Bare Essence role are two recent examples -- but if you think his ability to become his character is a bit confusing on the screen, think how his wife Kitty must feel! Here's Bruce in photos taken over a three year period -- okay, so he kept the suit for a year! -- but look how he changed! will you be seeing lots more of this ruggedly handsome star? Better believe it -- 'cause it sure looks as though there's not a man Bruce can't be!
Thanks, Claudia!
