FEEDBACK
Do you like to cook?
I'm a poor excuse for a cook. When I was growing up, my mom
did all the cooking; when I was married, my wife did. The way to my heart
is definitely through my stomach. While I'm fixing something, I eat half
of it, then wolf down the other half when it's done.
Was your mother a good cook?
She sure was. She had lots of hungry mouths to feed, especially
mine. I was a bottomless pit. I remember her beef stew and spaghetti in
particular. My grandmother was also a fantastic cook. She lived on a farm
in Illinois; we used to go there with our relatives for Sunday supper.
All the ladies would bring something. The pies were fantastic.
If you could invite three people in all of history
for dinner, who would they be?
I love storytellers, so I'd invite Will Rogers, one of the great
raconteurs of all time, and Errol Flynn and John Ford, because I'm sure
they'd both have great stories to tell. What lives they led! It would definitely
be an evening for the guys.
What was your most memorable meal?
At the White House. We ate course after course on the presidential
china. I don't remember what. It could have been Spam and I would have
been impressed.
What is your favorite food?
Hamburgers - I'm a fanatic. I remember shooting a TV movie in
the Cook Islands and eating stuff like yak and dreaming about a cheeseburger,
a big juicy one with everything on it. And Mexican food. I could eat it
every day of the week.
What would your dream meal be?
It would start with a cheeseburger. Then I'd want a Tex-Mex
feast, with fajitas, taquitos rancheros, guacamole, chips
and salsa, Coronas, Margaritas and shots of Sauza Conmemorativo tequila.
That should just about do it.
